Seattle's Best Coffee @ Burger King

Recently Burger King has introduced the branded Seattle’s Best Coffee into their menu permanently. These coffee featuring an Uncommonly Smooth™ taste from their Seattle’s Best Coffee® which is freshly-brewed with great taste that result from the smooth roasting 100-percent Arabica Coffee Beansand. Each cup of coffee costs from S$3.40(prices varies at selected restaurants) onwards depending on your selection.

Thanks to Marcus from Word Of Mouth Communications and Burger King for the complimentary coffee vouchers that has being courier to me together with the press release kit. It was really very innovative for them to send two cups of ¼ filled roasted coffee beans to create an aromatic senses of these branded Seattle’s Best Coffee even before I get to try them out.

Seattle’s Best Coffee is one of the most recognized specialty coffee brands in the United States and it has recently set its foot at Burger King outlets in Singapore. Their coffee is bold and full-flavoured with a distinguished taste that is mellow and uncommonly smooth. You can get to try any of their eight new coffees that brew to tantalize your taste buds anytime of the day at the nearest Burger King outlets(check outlets HERE) in your area.

For hot range you can choose either one of these four to perk you up during sleepy morning or cold days:-
- Americano
- Cappuccino
- Latte
- Mocha

Above is my order of Hot Latte that served together with my favourite Onion Rings for afternoon snack.

But if you prefer something more icy and refreshing perhaps one of these might be your choice:-
- Iced Americano
- Iced Latte
- Iced Mocha
- Iced Caramel Latte

So for us we decided to pick a cup of this Iced Mocha from the cold beverages list. From the 1st sip we agreed that it taste great and smoothing with a just nice sweetness which refreshing for quench the hot afternoon heat.

And in conjunction with the introduction of Seattle’s Beat Coffee in Burger King they also launched a “BK Coffee Smootherizer” application (www.burgerking.com.sg/coffee) that is created to encourage BK fans and new customers to try out BK’s new premium coffee offering - Seattle’s Best Coffee! Visitors are encouraged to upload a photo of their “bad” coffee in the BK Coffee Smootherizer application (www.burgerking.com.sg/coffee) and rate it for before it will be transformed into a 50% discount E coupon for redemption on your next purchase of freshly Seattle’s Best Coffee at any Burger King restaurants(except BK Escape Theme Park).

Other than the Seattle's Best Coffe, I would also like to share with you that currently Burger King is having the “You can expect EXTRA” promotion where customers would received a cup of FREE Sandae whenever they order one of the promotional set meal. Here we choose the “WHOPPER with Turkey Bacon and Cheese” set that comes with a regular drink and fries. I love the taste of the crispy bacon that is being sandwich together with their tender beef patty, cheese and lot of fresh crunchy lettuce.

Free Onion Ring with Popeyes Chicken Meals

Last weekend our dinner was at one of the Popeyes Chicken outlet at Jubilee Entertainment Centre, Ang Mo Kio. While queuing for the orders, I was attracted to the poster at the counter showing “Free Onion Rings” with any purchase of two Chicken Set Meal. So instead of getting a burger and a chicken set meal I decided to forgo the burger and swap it with two chicken set meals for the interest of trying out their New Onion Rings.

As for my Chicken Meal Set, I choose the "3 pieces Chicken Tenders" that comes with 3 generous serving size of deep-fried chicken fillets, regular packet of Cajun Fries, 1 biscuit (scone) and a regular cup of drink. When I tried a piece of it I was delighted with it crispy outer layer and tender juice meat as compared with some other fast food outlet that sometime serves either overcooked, too dry or tough deep-fried chicken fillets.

Each set of combo meal is serve with a piece of their signature biscuit (scone) that can be eaten plain or spread with some strawberry jam. I am surprise with the taste of their biscuit in this outlet as it is can be consider as the best from those that I have tried. The biscuit is nicely bake with a golden crust, soft and moist inside and most importantly it is not sour or contain that over proof taste and aroma compared to some of their other outlets.

2 Piece Chicken Combo Set at S$7.40 comes with 2 pieces of deep-fried chicken, regular packet of Cajun Fries, 1 biscuit (scone) and a regular cup of drink.

For those who have tried Popeyes’s fried chicken how do you rate their chicken compare to the KFC fried chicken that has being in the local Singapore Food Industry for long time. Does the chicken from Popeyes won your heart over from the KFC chicken or you still prefer the all time flavour from KFC? For me all I can share is, the taste of the final products would depend strongly on how each individual outlet staff prepared them. So it all depend on their Quality control......

Their Cajun Fries is the only items that my boy loves due to it fragrant seasoning and crispy texture. I am sure this is something for a change of the usual “McDonald’s” fries.

This is our first time trying out their Onion Ring and we love it just as much as their special Cajun Fries. The outer coating of the onion rings are so crispy and fragrant when bite that it brings back some of our memories and talks about the famous A&W Onion Rings that we used to eat during our childhood time.

While tidying up the leftover before leaving the place, my boy spotted this "Free Cajun Fries Voucher" hide underneath the serving food boxes that we are not aware of it. So if you do dine-in any of their outlet, do look-up for this Free fries voucher incase you missed it.

KFC Roasta Burger & Snackers Deal

A week ago, I was captured by a poster outside one of the KFC outlet at a nearby shopping mall. And while sharing with my online friends, I also heard good review on their newly launch Roasta Burger too. Here are two recommendation post that I have read from my twitter friends "Foodielicious" and "Amanda".

And since I cannot resists the temptation on what they have shared, I decided to drop by one of their outlet and grab a set too. The Roasta Burger comes in two different value meal set at:-
Roasta Promo Meal: S$5.90 (comes with Burger, regular pepsi and whipped potato)
Roasta Meal: S$6.80 (comes with Burger, regular pepsi, whipped potato and coleslaw)

This is the reason why I am so tempted to try the new KFC Roasta Burger!!!!! Isn't this look cute with its' oven design box.

After unwrapping the wrapper you will see the juicy grilled chicken fillet being sandwich in between the soft bun (oat bran dusted bun) together with lots of fresh crisp lettuce strips and tomato slices. And if you want to have a healthier choice, you can also ask for plain that is without any sauce added.

Although this Roasta Burger is not something very fantastic in taste but at least it can be another alternative choice for KFC chicken lover to swap between their usual Zinger or Shrooms Burger. Here is a KFC Roasta Burger TVC for your viewing... hope you won't drool after this......

If you just want to have some bites, perhaps you can try their Snackers Value Meals which comes in 3 different choices such as Winglets Snackers, Popcorn Chicken Snackers and Drumstick Snackers. On top of this great value snacks, you can also top up additional S$1.00 to have a regular drink to go with it.

As usual, my little one loves to have their Popcorn Chicken Snackers which comes with generous amount of crispy chicken bits and fries.
Snackers: S$2.95 per box

To end the meal, we each have our favourite KFC Bake Portuguese Egg Tart as dessert. These lovely egg tarts have being around in their menu since January this year. But it is only a month or two back before we get to try this yummy treats after reading some good feedback about it from facebook and etc.

The crust of the tarts are flaky like those puff pastry type which is quite different from the usual biscuit base that we used to eat. I love the smooth and silky egg custard that taste just nice with a hint of lovely fragrant that makes you crave for two or more. These tarts are available at most KFC outlets at the pricing shown below:
Individual: S$1.30 per piece
Box of 2: $2.60; Box of 6: S$7.50

There are more than 50 KFC outlets island wide in Singapore and most of the outlets served the main items on the menu such as the usual Spicy/Original Chicken, Burgers, AM Breakfast, Egg Tarts as well as the new KFC Roasta Burger. You can click HERE to locate the nearest outlet to you.

Popeyes Chicken & Biscuit

This post has being buried into my DRAFT post box for more than half a year until I happened to saw it a few days ago while doing some clear up on those draft posts. Other than this branch at the Singapore Flyer what is mentioned in this post, we have also tried out some of their outlet at Novena Square 2 and Toa Payoh Entertainment Centre. Overall, the services and food are still quite a pleasant experience for us.

Although I have heard a lot of good comments on Popeyes' Deep-fried Batter Chicken, Cajun Fries and Mashed Potato but it was only recently that I get the chance to try it at it's branch at the Singapore Flyer during on our way to the Marina Barrage.

Comparing popeye's chicken to the KFC chicken, it is less spicy, less oily, and more crispy. There is also an option to choose between mild or spicy preference.
Price: S$5.40(2 Piece Chicken), S$7.40 (Combo meal including 1 side and drink)

If two pieces chicken meal cannot satisfy your hungry, you can always add extra items from the Munchers menu on either Drumlets, Calamari Ring or Fish Bites which cost less than S$4.00 a plate. Although the drumlet is nothing fancy but at least they can be treated as tea snack or kid's meal too.
Price: S$3.60(4 Drumlets), S$3.90 (Calamari Ring) or S$3.90(Fish Bites)

Their biscuits (scones) are slightly savoury, soft and fluffy that goes well with a touch of the jam or maple syrup over it. Some occasion they might run of this hot selling items and will try to replace them with corn or etc. But to me, not everyone likes the taste of the biscuits because it has a hint of sourish fragrant and taste due to the buttermilk and it has never capture my boy's liking towards it.

Mixed Seafood Combo set comes with batter fried shrimps, fish and calamari, together with 1 side, 1 biscuit and drink that costs S$9.40. This is quite similar to Long John Silvers' (LJS) seafood set that comes with fish & shrimps and I personally prefers LJS's version of batter compare to Popeyes which i find it slight dry to taste.
Price: S$7.40(seafood set), S$9.40(combo meal including 1 side and drink)

Cajun Fries are the main reason why my boy loves to pop-by to Popeyes Chicken. The fries taste crispy and lovely with that cajun spices while hot and it goes pretty well with either tomato or chilli sauce.
Price: S$2.00(regular), S$3.00(large)

This is one of Popeyes' hot selling item other than their Cajun Fries. Their special gravy on the “Mashed Potatoes” taste great with some added mild spices and smooth mashed potatoes. And from a glance on it, you might even think that there is some minced meat in the gravy.
Price: S$2.00(regular), S$3.00(large)

Wendy's @ GV Yishun 10

Em... if you are just given this photo to guess where are these baked potato from, can you score bingo for it? I am sure for those who always love to venture new food are bond to recognised some of the signature items from each restaurants at a glance. I have posted a similar photo at the Facebook Fan page and surprisingly all the 5 person who comments guess it correctly(click HERE to view). These baked potatoes are indeed from the new fast food restaurant known as “Wendy’s”.

Last Saturday, Joyce and I decided to drop by Wendy’s that is located in Golden Village Yishun 10. This newly opened outlet has replaced the Burger King that had being an icon fast food outlet there for more than 10 years I guess.

The queue at Wendy’s is pretty long during weekend evenings and I have to queue for about 30 minutes before I can get my orders done. To survive in these fast food industries, Wendy’s indeed has a wide range of items from different varieties of burgers to deep-fried chicken pieces, assorted baked potatoes, chili and array flavour of frosty. So after running through their menu, these are what Joyce and I settle with.

1/4 Pound Single Combo which comes with a 1/4 Pound Burger, small fries and drinks of your choice. You can also choose to upsize your side and drink with additional 50cents or S$1.00 for medium or large. Each bite of this 1/4 pound burger, you will get to taste the delicious patty that is grilled to juicy perfection and it is served with fresh toppings such as tomato and pickle. For a combo set like this with regular fries and drink it cost S$6.85 per set.

Next we get a set of their Fried Chicken Combo at S$7.40 each because we are curious to try out how different it taste compare to other fast food restaurants that serves fried chicken too. The outer layer is very crispy and the meat inside is surprisingly not dry or tough but tender. But if compare to other fried chicken, this taste rather mild without the usual herbs and spices taste.

My choice of "Broccoli & Cheese Baked Potato" @ S$3.30 each which is a huge serving that can be shared between two person. The piping-hot baked potato that is straight from the oven is topped with tender pieces of broccoli and a creamy cheese sauce. For me as a cheese lover, the cheese sauce taste rather a bit mild but in another way it will be less greasy and great for those non-cheese lovers to pick up this choice.

Joyce pick wants something less cheesy so she settle with this "Sour Cream & Chives Potato" that cost S$2.90 each. The sour cream topping goes well with the blend baked potato and makes it a rather healthy choice among the 5 toppings that are available. Although this taste great, but we thought if they have some extra fried bacon bits on top of the sour cream it would be perfection for this dish.

Wendy’s offer 4 different types of “Frosty” which are Original Frosty, Frosty Float, Frosty Shake and Twisted Frosty. Here we order one of their “Original Chocolate Frosty” that taste cool, creamy and refreshing. The texture is very smooth and it does not taste too sweet for those without sweet tooth. I am sure a small cup of this will satisfies your palate after hearty meal.

Other than burgers, fried chicken, baked potatoes and etc. Wendy's also have Breakfast Sets, Garden Salads, Chili, Kids' Meal (comes with a toy) and etc. Perhaps we will drop by another day to try out their breakfast set again.

There are a few Wendy's outlet around Singapore from the main branch at Lau Pa Sat and the rest locating at Jurong Point, Holland village, Liat Towers and Yishun 10. According to them, there will be another two NEW outlets coming up soon at Plaza by the Park and NEX Mall. Posted by Picasa

The Handburger @ 313 Orchard

Remember our Burger Hunt outing, after sharing the post with you on Burger Bench & Bar(read more HERE), now let me continue to share with you our 2nd stop of the food hunting at "The Handburger" which is located at the end corner at Basement 2 of 313 @ Somerset.

3 best friends, Anna Lim, Andrew Chan and Benedict Leow who want to offer quality, artisan burgers that are priced reasonably so that everyone is able to enjoy them regularly, own “The Handburger” restaurant. Other than burgers retail, they are also the owner behind the popular western soup restaurant known as "The Soup Spoon" that has varies outlets in Singapore.

Since we have just finished our 1st hunt over at "Burger, Bench & Bar", we decided to order something more unique over here. After going through the menu, the few of us (Alice, Lobster, Alvin & I) agreed on this "Tandoor Chicken Burger" and "Duck Confit". I love the Indian Tandoor Chicken so I have much higher expectation on this burger.

According to the menu the chicken thigh is cooked in tandoor style that is marinated in yogurt, cucumber, red onions, hand cooked masala sauce, mint mayo. It is then topped with sweet mango chutney on some coral lettuce and tomato and sandwich together with toasted spinach and Parmesan bun. The greenish bun does look appealing to us but the taste of the tandoor chicken was kind of plain perhaps of the sauce and overall it does not really suits our liking. But for those who don't really like the strong Indian spices taste, you might wish to give it a try at S$10.80 each.

Duck Confit Burger is something rare to be found in most common burger outlets so it is worth to get a set of this. They actually grilled the whole boneless duck leg confit in handmade orange sauce then topped with baby snow pea sprouts and mandarin orange on a bed of coral lettuce and tomato together with the toasted caramelised bun. The duck itself is very tender when bite and it combines very well with the handmade sauce and orange topping. Recommend to try this if you have eaten too much of chicken burger.

You can create a set meal with either S$4.00/S$6.00 top up for extra side and drink (ice lemon tea/hot green tea) together with a burger of your choice. So for this set, we choose the "The Works Burger" that consists of 100% New Zealand ribeye beef patty that weights 150g, this patty is nicely grilled and topped with battered onion rings, crispy bacon, sunny side up egg, sauteed basil pesto mushroom, sweet onion jam, cheddar cheese and etc on a bed of coral lettuce then sandwich with toasted caramelised onion bun.

Can you imagine when you bite this burger, it will be burst with all kind of flavour such as juicy beef, onion, runny egg yolk, cheese and etc. For beef lover like me and Alice, we do agreed that this beef patty is far much more better than the previous one that we have tried especially on the seasoning and sauce that makes a great different. As for the side, we have a Caesar Salad to go with the burger while drink, we top-up extra to have the Lychee Mint Crush instead of the usual ice lemon tea.

Lychee Mint Crush is definitely a very interesting drink. The sweet fragrances of the lychee and the refreshing cool mint blend together with crush ice ineed makes this a great choice to go with those burgers. Most of us are guess what are the ingredients blended in it which makes it taste so addicting. Some mention about kiwifruit and cucumbers, but I will leave you to try this out on your next visit to the outlet. A glass of this cost cost about S$5.50 which is good enough to share between two person.

This restaurant also offer some Kid's Friendly meal for either "Mini Mister Meal" or "Mini Miss Meal" where you can choose between Cheeseburger or Fish Burger to go with chunky fries, buffalo winglets, a cup of freshly blended apple juice and a cupcake for dessert. All these only cost you S$9.50 per set which I am sure your kids will love these combination. But somehow or rather, we find they should change the drink to something else instead of fresh apple fruit because tends to oxide before consume which makes it look rather not appetising to the kids. (Above is the "Mini Mister Meal" with Fish Burger where you can find a slice of lovely lotus root in it)

This is something new to us, sweet burger which they known it as "THB Dessert Burger" which sandwich a 70% dark coverture chocolate patty filled with macadamia nuts, topped with apple crem cheese filling on a bed of butter icing and strawberries with fluffy donut bun. We love this, the chocolate patty is so rich and fragrant that it makes you crave for more. If you like chocolate and with something special rather than the usual meat patty, I suggest you go for this S$6.50 dessert burger with a cup of tea or coffee.

Overall we have a great time on our second food outings for this Burger Hunt event. But however we did not managed to try the 3rd places which is included in our schedule at Ice Rockz, located at Scape because they are running out of rice patty when we get there. So I guess, we have to go back another time or perhaps another BURGER OUTING!!! Our next outing will be something more exciting so do stay tune for our outing updates in September. Posted by Picasa
