Free Onion Ring with Popeyes Chicken Meals

Last weekend our dinner was at one of the Popeyes Chicken outlet at Jubilee Entertainment Centre, Ang Mo Kio. While queuing for the orders, I was attracted to the poster at the counter showing “Free Onion Rings” with any purchase of two Chicken Set Meal. So instead of getting a burger and a chicken set meal I decided to forgo the burger and swap it with two chicken set meals for the interest of trying out their New Onion Rings.

As for my Chicken Meal Set, I choose the "3 pieces Chicken Tenders" that comes with 3 generous serving size of deep-fried chicken fillets, regular packet of Cajun Fries, 1 biscuit (scone) and a regular cup of drink. When I tried a piece of it I was delighted with it crispy outer layer and tender juice meat as compared with some other fast food outlet that sometime serves either overcooked, too dry or tough deep-fried chicken fillets.

Each set of combo meal is serve with a piece of their signature biscuit (scone) that can be eaten plain or spread with some strawberry jam. I am surprise with the taste of their biscuit in this outlet as it is can be consider as the best from those that I have tried. The biscuit is nicely bake with a golden crust, soft and moist inside and most importantly it is not sour or contain that over proof taste and aroma compared to some of their other outlets.

2 Piece Chicken Combo Set at S$7.40 comes with 2 pieces of deep-fried chicken, regular packet of Cajun Fries, 1 biscuit (scone) and a regular cup of drink.

For those who have tried Popeyes’s fried chicken how do you rate their chicken compare to the KFC fried chicken that has being in the local Singapore Food Industry for long time. Does the chicken from Popeyes won your heart over from the KFC chicken or you still prefer the all time flavour from KFC? For me all I can share is, the taste of the final products would depend strongly on how each individual outlet staff prepared them. So it all depend on their Quality control......

Their Cajun Fries is the only items that my boy loves due to it fragrant seasoning and crispy texture. I am sure this is something for a change of the usual “McDonald’s” fries.

This is our first time trying out their Onion Ring and we love it just as much as their special Cajun Fries. The outer coating of the onion rings are so crispy and fragrant when bite that it brings back some of our memories and talks about the famous A&W Onion Rings that we used to eat during our childhood time.

While tidying up the leftover before leaving the place, my boy spotted this "Free Cajun Fries Voucher" hide underneath the serving food boxes that we are not aware of it. So if you do dine-in any of their outlet, do look-up for this Free fries voucher incase you missed it.

Giveaway! FREE Sample QUAKER Oats Oatmeal Cookie

I always love to make a bowl of Quaker Oats and drizzle it with some honey or dried mixed fruits during weekends for a quick and hearty breakfast. But today instead of their Quick Cooking Oats or snack bars, I would like to share with you some of their new products shown below that I have spotted from the local supermarkets.

Honestly before getting these oatmeal cookies I was struggling in mind on whether is it worth to pay S$2.85 for 6 individual packets of 3 cookies each. What if they don’t taste good, fragrant or crunchy like those normal butter or chocolate chips cookies? But after reading the description from the packaging I was motivated to get some since it is made with wholegrain oats, no artificial flavour and most important 0% trans fat.

For your information I did not get all the three flavour at the beginning. Out of the three I settle for my favourite “Oatmeal Cookie with Raisin” which is surprisingly so additive in taste and texture that after I had a piece of it, I cannot stop munching for more. Although it might not have those buttery taste like most commercial or homemade cookies but I can assured you that this is one of those healthier snacks that you can pack some in your bag for snack in between meal if you feel hungry.

After my food experience with their “Raisin Oatmeal Cookie” I decided to try out the other two flavour which I can’t find them in most supermarket as they are out of stock. But today, I managed to find them in one of the Cold Storage and here is the “Oatmeal Cookie with Honey & Nuts”. I am sure this will be a hot selling snack for both kids and adult because of its sweet and nutty flavour.

Lastly we have this “Oatmeal Cookie with Apple and Cinnamon Flavour” but don’t worry you can’t really taste any strong cinnamon scent. Instead it will leave you with some mild and sweet apple fragrant while eating it.

Overall out of the 3 types of oatmeal cookie, I still prefer my favourite “Oatmeal Cookie with Raisin” because it leaves me with more chewing and biting while eating it. For this review, 2 lucky readers would get a chance to sample a set of this Assorted Flavour Quaker Oats Oatmeal Cookie complimentary from “Cuisine Paradise”. So do read up the instructions below in order to participate for the giveaway.

Soup Broth Asia @ Raffle City

Talking about Soup! I am a Soup craze especially Asian type of double-boiled soup. My soup interest came from my dad who used to boil soup for us almost everyday when he is around. Recently in Singapore, you can find more and more hawker/food center stalls selling “Steam Soup” or also known as double-boiled soup that comes in different combination of ingredients.

I am sure most of you have heard or even try those delicious western soups from “The Soup Spoon”. And for your information, Chef Anna Lim have concocted 12 different types of Asian Hearty Soup such as “Herbal Chicken (S$7.20)”, “Indonesian Chicken Opor Soup (S$7.20)”, “Hainanese Fish Maw Soup (S$10.20)”, “Kimchi with Beef and Beancurd Hotpot (S$8.60)”, "Salted Vegetable with Duck Soup (S$9.60)" and etc for soup lover to enjoy a pot of tasty comfortable soup at a affordable price.

Their Herbal chicken soup is very usual compared to those that we have tried from the local Chinese restaurant or soup stalls. Imagine spotting some deep-fried dumplings and fresh watercress in your herbal chicken soup? Does this sound interesting! I am sure there are a lot more interesting combination of ingredients and taste waiting for you to explore at their outlet.

This herbal chicken soup has a very mild herbal taste that suits those foreigner or even youngster whom cannot accept those strong Chinese herbal taste in their soup. But when compared to those traditional Chinese Herbal Chicken Soup, this one at Soup Broth Asia taste rather more like confinement soup which has that hint of ginger taste in it. Perhaps adding ginger is good to expel wind in the body as well as keep body warm during cooling year end weather.

Each pot of soup is served with a bowl of complimentary steam white rice. But to suit your personal preference you can always top-up extra S$1.00 to exchange the white rice with either fried rice with egg or fragrant yam rice. If not you can always get it as an extra bowl to go with your soup at S$2.00 each for a fuller meal.

For guys who have bigger appetise or those who wish to share the meal you can always get the "Set Meal" updgrade at S$3.80 or S$4.80. Each upgrade comes with either 2 or 3 side dishes each from the category below:-
Appetizer: Cold Tofu, Egg Sambal, Kimchi
Meat: Roast Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Fried Fish Slices, Soya Sesame Chicken, Wasabi Prawns
Vegetable: Braised Beancurd, Stir Fried Baby Kailan, Chap Chye, Stir Fried Egg with Tomato

The Set Meal Upgrade also include a drink of your choice on either Hot Green Tea or cooling Ice-lemon Tea.

So do give this new fusion Asian soup a try if you love their western soup over at “The Soup Spoon”. This outlet is located in between “The Soup Spoon” and “The Handburger” (a review post HERE) at the basement 1 of Raffle City Shopping Mall. You can’t miss it with their friendly serving staffs wearing sweet pink T-Shirt greeting the customers outside the restaurant.
