[Recipes] Quick Meals Using Philips Airfryer

Being using my reliable Avance XL Airfryer for almost 2 years and it still going good with some add-on accessories like grill pan, baking pan and double layer rack (with skewers) for different purpose of cooking.

In this post it features two different types of airfryer (viva and avance) use to prepare some quick recipes on such as air-fried chicken and spam fries, steamed fish, baked pumpkin and etc which I hope it will be useful for your reference.

PHILIPS AVANCE XL AIRFRYER

~~~ AIR-FRIED PRAWN PASTE CHICKEN ~~~
[Philips XL Airfryer] Har Cheong Gai (prawn paste chicken)
Talk about chicken wing I am sure most of us cannot resists those with crisp outer crust and tender juicy meat. But if we are to prepare it at home I think most of us will hesitate due to the amount of oil used and risk of being splatter by hot oil while deep-frying.
Here instead of deep-fried our favouite Har Cheong Gai (prawn paste chicken - 虾酱鸡) with oil I use our reliable #philipsairfryer to complete the task in 18 minutes. And from the above you can see those mid-joints are pretty good with crispy outer skin that is similar to deep-frying.
(Yield: 2 | Preparation: 10 minutes | Cooking: 18-20 minutes)
Ingredients:
8 chicken chicken wings
2 tablespoons cornflour, optional
Marinade:
1 tablespoon Lee Kum Kee Shrimp Paste
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon finely grated ginger
1/2 tablespoon cooking wine/mirin
1/2 teaspoon sugar, optional
Method:
1. Trim chicken wings and cut them into halved (mid-joints and drumlets) before marinate it with marinade mixture for at least 2 hours or overnight in the fridge.
2. Preheat air-fryer at 180 degree for 2 minutes. Arrange mid-joints (lightly dust with cornflour) on frying basket or grilled pan and air-fried for 8 minutes.
3. Next flip mid-joints over and cook for another 8 minutes. Lastly increase the temperature to 200 degree and air-fried for another minute or until nicely browned.
Tip:
- I freeze the remaining marinated drumlets in a ziplock bag till next meal.
- The cooking time might vary depend on the size of the chicken wings.
~~~ AIR-FRIED MUSTARD CHICKEN ~~~
[Philips XL Airfryer] Air-fried Honey Mustard Chicken

1 tablespoon light soy sauce

1 sprig Rosemary, optional

1. Placed marinated chicken together with the marinade in the baking pan (or disposal baking try) and air-fried in 160 degree for 18 minutes.

2. Next increase temperate to 180 degree and bake for another 10-12 minutes until chicken is cooked through and nicely browned with a crisp outer skin.

~~~ AIR-FRIED ASIAN STYLE FISH ~~~
[Philips XL Airfryer] Air-fried Asian Style Fish
We all know the best way to cook fish and retain its health benefits is to either steam, poach, bake or grill. Here we are using similar technique as Oven-Steamed Fish but instead of wrapping the fish with parchment paper we place it in the airfryer baking pan. The end result turnout great with perfectly "steamed" fish that is tender and silky in texture.
(Yield: 2 | Preparation: 10 minutes | Cooking: 20 minutes)
Ingredients:
1 medium sea bass, halibut or fish cutlet (300 - 350g)
1 medium lime, cut into thin slices
1 tomato, cut into quarter
3 slices of ginger, julienned
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 bird eye chilli, sliced
1 stalk spring onion, cut into sections
Method:
1. Clean, rinse and pat dry the fish (cut into half to fix into the baking pan) then lightly season it with cooking wine.
2. Arrange tomato and lime on the fish then drizzle with the garlic oil mixture (saute ginger and minced garlic with 1 tablespoon of oil till golden brown) and top with spring onion and chilli.
3. Cover baking pan with aluminum foil and bake at 180 degree for 15 minutes. Check the fish, if not fully cooked continue for another 3 - 5 minutes.
4. Remove and serve immediately with steamed rice.
PHILIPS VIVA AIRFRYER
My mum had being using her Viva Airfryer way before I got my XL version. She often use it to prepare or reheat food such as; toast, muffin, baking sweet potato or pumpkin or air-fried fish which can be easily done in minutes without oil being splatter around the stove or oven.
[Philips Viva Airfryer] Air-fried Chicken Mid-Joint
Simply marinate the chicken meat joint with light soy sauce, sesame oil, cooking wine and dash of pepper for at least 30 minutes. Before cooking, dust it with corn flour and place on grill pan then air-fried (preheat for 2 minutes) at 180 degree for 25 minutes till golden brown.
[Philips Viva Airfryer] Air-fried Mackerel Fish
Mum loves fish especially fried mackerel and black pomfret. Now with the help of the grill pan she can easily prepared her favourite fish without the hassle of  deep-frying as well "fishy & oily" smell in the kitchen.
Lightly season fish with sea salt, cooking wine and 1/2 teaspoon of cooking oil. Air-fried (preheat for 2 minutes) at 180 degree for 15 - 20 minutes (flip over after 10 minutes) depending on the size of the fish.
[Philips Viva Airfryer] Air-fried Pumpkin Cubes
[Philips Viva Airfryer] Air-fried Salmon & Pumpkin
Baked pumpkin or sweet potato is one of mum favourite afternoon snacks or quick dinner. In order to speed up the cooking time she often cut them in 1" cubes, lightly toss in olive oil (optional) and air-fried till soft. Above dish is air-fried salmon fish head which is season with miso paste, cooking wine and dash of cornflour before cooking at 180 degree for 15 - 20 minutes or until meat is cooked.
If you are interested, this Grill Pan (SG$65; grill pan + baking pan) which mum bought  is available via Philips Service Center (check out their website here) or online from Qoo10.sg for both Viva and XL version.
Verdict: Super good as both fish and prawn paste chicken (har cheong gai) turnout to have crispy outer skin and the oil from the mid-joint drips down from the holes of the grill pan too. Most importantly she finds the grill pan is easier to wash as compared to the frying basket where sometime food crumbs or fish might stick on it making it difficult to remove.
