Chinese New Year 2017 Bazaar, Woodlands Food Factory Outlets & Festive Deals

Chinese New Year is about 3 days from now and I am sure most of you have already done with your shopping list. But if you have not done so, don't worry you still have time to join the crowds to pick up all the necessary goodies and at the same time soak in the festive mood.

In this articular you can find some last minute deals to get frozen seafood or steamboat items at Woodlands factory outlets or online site to order your goodies and get them delivered it to your doorsteps.

Come and celebrate the Year of the Rooster at Chinatown with your family and friends where you need to brave through the crowds in the festive street bazaar along Temper Street. This is a yearly pasar malam  (street stalls) affair similar to the one at Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar with stalls selling new year decoration, food clothing, snacks, flowers as well as goodies from Taiwan & Korea.

The colourful stall is one of my favourite stalls at the bazaar selling all kind of waxed meat items from Lap Cheong (Chinese sausage), Waxed Duck, Pork Belly to Jin Hua Ham (金华火腿) and etc which often used in many festive dishes.

Date: 6 – 27 January 2017
Venue: Pagoda Street, Smith Street, Sago Street, Temple Street and Trengganu Street
Time: 6.00pm – 10.30pm (Daily); 6.00pm – 1.00am (Chinese New Year’s Eve)

One of my bestie introduce Kim Peng Hiang which is a new brand to us as compared to better known brand like Lim Chee Guan or Bee Cheng Hiang. The outlet is located at Changi Road which is near Kembangan MRT station.

Usually customers who came is for their signature Pineapple Bak Kwa which sweet & savory plus it contains bits of real pineapple flesh in it. During Chinese New Year period each customer is limited to buy 1 - 3kg of pineapple bak kwa depending on the stock availability.

There are a number of food factories located along Woodlands Terrace which are open daily to the public during Chinese New Year (half day on new year eve) period from as early as 8.30am till 6.00pm. Products from these factories range from frozen seafood and meat (KSP, Fassler, William Koo), steamboat ingredients (CS Tay Food & Li Chuan), bottled sauces, canned food, dim sum items, desserts (Melvados) as well as bak kwa and snacks from Fragrance brand.

You can access the location by car or public transport; Bus 964 from woodlands interchange or the bus stop outside Admiralty MRT station, alight at Woodlands Link (bus-stop code:46921, opposite block 22).

Just like Fassler, William Sea Products also offers high quality of frozen seafood with range of sea cucumber (Australia, Korea and local), shrimp, fish (sea bass, pomfret, salmon, cod), scallop and more.

Fragrance not only selling bak kwa (BBQ pork) at this outlet but they also offers huge range of crackers (prawn crackers and salted egg fish skin), Chinese New Year goodies (love letter, nuts, cuttlefish, cookies, pickled fruits and etc) and more. Besides that they also have frozen seafood and steamboat ingredients in the freezer section near the back area.

On a side note, they have ready-made Kong Bak Bao (braised pork belly bun) and Yam Paste which are quite well-received too.

Daisho offers imported seafood, fresh fruit, ice-cream, snacks and etc from Japan but the price is quite stiff as compared to other outlet there selling similar items. So most of the time those who went in mostly just grab their premium ice-cream.

Being here for the past few years and we love their range of seafood products which is much cheaper (30 - 60%) compared to those sold in local supermarkets. They have two large freezer rooms that opens to public where frozen seafood (such as cod fish, scallop, lobster, salmon and etc) and prepacked soup are available for your selection.

Our loop with Deep Sea Ice Cod (4 portions a pack), Saba Mackerel Fillet (3-4pc/pkt; 400gm) and Unagi for a total of $85+. Oh ya remember to bring along your cooler bag for storing frozen items and you can get ice bags from the cashier too.
