[New Outlets] Sembawang White Beehoon (三巴旺白米粉)

Sembawang White Beehoon (三巴旺白米粉) is one of the few popular cze char stalls in Sembawang and Yishun area which is located at 22 Jalan Tampang (You Huak Restaurant). As long as I could remember this stall had being at the same location for more than 10 years serving loyalty patrons who loved their signature white beehoon. The dinner queues usually starts to crazy during evening time from around 5pm onward and most of the time you need to wait for at least 20 minutes or more before you can grab your seats. Now with another 2 new outlets (sun plaza shopping centre & punggol settlement) serving similar dishes I am sure it will helps to spread up the queues.

[Sembawang White Beehoon] Ordering Menu
When dining at their coffee shop outlet, the serving staff will take your orders first while you are waiting for the seats so that food will be served in 5 minutes upon seating.

[Sembawang White Beehoon] Sour plum juice
Meanwhile while waiting for your food you can get some beverages from their drink stall with the usual array of drinks, lime juice, homemade barley or sour plum juice shown above. Besides their "Aiyu Honey Lime" (蜂蜜柠檬爱玉) is also one of the popular order among diners to cool the heat.

[MUST TRY] The Signature White Beehoon (SG$5; small serving) is being simmered in rich bone broth making it so tasty and flavourful but yet not heavy on one end. The beehoon is also cooked till almost perfection without being too soggy in texture.

To dig in simply squeeze lime juice over the beehoon, toss well then enjoy it with the accompany sambal chilli. I usually have it without the chilli sauce because I preferred the original taste of the bee hoon which had be soaked in the broth.

[Sembawang White Beehoon] Sambal Lala
Sambal Lala (SG$10) is one of our favourite seafood dish when compared to fish or prawn. But even it might look good to go with steamed rice or beehoon sometime it looks like there were just shells rather than visible clam meat on the plate.

[Sembawang White Beehoon] Meat & Seafood Roll
Meat and Seafood Roll (SG$10, small serving) which is also known as Ngor Hiang (五香) / Hei Zhou (虾枣) is another recommended dish. The texture of the roll is slightly finer with mixture minced pork, prawns, fish paste, water  chestnut. Each slice is fried till crisp on the outside which goes well with their sweet chilli sauce.

[Sembawang White Beehoon] Sambal Kang Kong

[Sembawang White Beehoon] Sweet Potato Leaves
As for the greens either Sambal Kang Kong (SG$8, small serving) or Sweet Potato Leaves (SG$8) is on our list. But personally I preferred Kang Kong because the texture was still crisp to bite and with less gravy when compared to the sweet potato leaves.

[Sembawang White Beehoon] Queues form as early as 5.00pm especially during weekend.

[Sembawang White Beehoon] White Restaurant Outlet @ Sun Plaza Shopping Centre
Good news to those who frequent Sembawang White Beehoon at Jalan Tampang because they have just opened a new outlet at Sun Plaza Shopping Centre with space that at least 3 times bigger to cater for more customers. With their nostalgic feel dining environment it does give patrons a sense of homely feel.

[Sembawang White Beehoon] Ordering Menu
For regular customers you can start choosing your orders from the given list but on first visit perhaps you might want to scan through their pictured menu to check out the dishes and prices (eg. wet tissue is chargeable at 30 cents each).

During our recent visit we had their Signature White Bee Hoon (SG$5), Indonesia Style Fried Chicken Wings (SG$8) and Sweet Potato Leave (SG$8). We felt the beehoon at the new outlet was not as good when compared to the original one as the coffee shop with thick and rich stock flavour. Although the fried chicken wings were tender and moist with fragrant seasonings like turmeric and lemongrass but somehow the meat its taste kind of bland.

Overall we still preferred the main branch at the coffee shop so I guess we don't really mind the long queuing time if we are craving for some beehoon fix.
