Usher In The Year Of The Snake @ PARKROYAL on Beach Road

To celebrate coming Chinese Lunar New Year, Plaza Brasserie is having the Prosperity Buffet from 28 February to 24 February 2013 as well as the Prosperity Buffet Feast Reunion Dinner on 09 February 2013 to satisfy all cravings.

In addition, Chinese New Year banquet dinner can also be celebrated at their ballroom on 09 February 2013 where guests can look forward to lion dance performance, Tea Appreciation performance by the Si Chuan Dou Hua tea master and the God of Fortune who will be making guest appearance to celebrate the Luna New Year with the guests too.

Ushering into the Year of Snakes, Chef Jackson has come up with a new creation of Fruity Yu Sheng which consists of fresh tropical fruits like Mandarin Oranges, Peaches, Rose Apples, Rock Melon, Dried Persimmons, Green Manago and Papaya. This new creation of Chef Jackson symbolizes an abundance of wealth and a well-rounded life which enhanced with Chef's fruit Flavoured Sauce.

Personally I love the sweet and refreshing after taste of this Fruity Yusheng which makes me craving for more after each mouthful.  But if you are not into fruits, traditional Yu Sheng will also be available too.

Mini Pen Cai
Although the this is known as "Mini Pen Cai" but within you could find many special ingredients such as Fish Maw, Prawns, Sea Cucumber, Sliced Abalone, Roast Duck, Chicken, Pork, Cabbage, Black Moss and etc building up this pot of luxury comfort food.

Chili Crab

Crystal Pork Slices With Thai Dressing

Fish Maw Soup

Kong Ba Bao

Steamed Fried Rice With Preserved Meat with Lotus Leaf
Other than the highlight on Fruity Yu Sheng and Mini Pen Cai, there are also many other auspicious dishes like Eight Treasure Boneless Duck, Chilli Crab, Braised Pork Knuckle with Dried Oyster and Black Moss, Fish Maw Soup, Braised Sea Cucumber With Roasted Pork, Kong Ba Bao and many others.

Assorted Colourful Sushi and Sashimi
Despite of all the delicious Chinese New Year cuisine, whenever I visit Plaza Brasserie, the first station I start with is their Sushi Counter where I love to pick up some colourful sushi and salmon sashimi as starter. Sushi lover should not miss out this station where you get to enjoy some of your favourite sushi, tuna/salmon plus edamame and teriyaki chicken.

Traditional Egg Tarlets
There are quite a range of dessert at their buffet line where you could pick your choice from Pineapple Tartlets, Love Letters, Almond Cookies, Sesame Glutinous Rice Balls in Red Bean Soup, Egg Tartlets and Lapis Cake too.

Durian Nian Gao With Bak Kua
But out of all choices, my favourite is still their Durian Nian Gao with Bak Kua which I recommend you to give it a try if you like the combination of sweet nian gao with durian fragrance to pair with some savory bak kua (BBQ pork) toppings.

Flavour Of Thailand at PARKROYAL On Beach Road

I have missed out "Plaza Brasserie Crab Feast" in July due to some work commitment but you could read more over at Jacob (HERE) and ShiTing (HERE) posts. So when Karen invited me for the Flavour of Thailand I immediately agreed as I am a huge fan of Thai Cuisines (my Thai recipes HERE) and my favourites are the Thai Papaya Salad, Red/Green Curry, Basil Pork, Beef Noodles, Durian Dessert and etc.

From now till 31 October 2012, you can feast all the delicious Thai Cuisine and Desserts at Plaza Brasserie Flavour of Thailand buffet during dinner hours. Other than Thai Cuisine, they are still other international food on the buffet spread such as Sushi, Sashimi, Assorted Prata, Chicken Rice, Oysters and etc.

For starter we have Thai Papaya Salad and Thai Glass Noodles Salad. If to compare both, I would prefer the crunchy Papaya Salad over the Glass Noodles as it has more combination of texture and taste from the green papaya, peanuts, tomato and chilli.

The Thai Glass Noodle Salad taste a bit bland perhaps some of the seasonings or sauce is missing as compared to those in the Thai restaurant where lot of fresh herbs like coriander is added together with Thai Lime juice and Fish Sauce to enhance the aroma and taste.

Thai Fish Cakes are a common street food in Thailand which are more flavorful when compared to most Western And Asian fish cake. The authentic Thai Fish Cakes are not battered as it allows fresh taste of the fish, spices, and herbs to combine together. Here at Plaza Brasserie, their Thai Fish Cakes are a bit different with breaded outer layer and deep-fried till crispy before serving with Thai-style Chilli Sauce.

Although this Thai Beef Noodle Soup is quiet popular among those who have tried it that evening, but some of us felt that if the beef slices could be slightly thinner and tender it would prefer this dish. But on top of it the soup broth is rich and flavorsome and it makes a few of us run back for second helping too.

{MUST TRY} Thai Red Curry With Roast Duck is my favourite dish among all that were served that night. The curry is tasty and flavorsome without too much of coconut milk taste and it goes well with the vegetables and roast duck.

Stir Fried Kai Lan in Thai Style is one of the well-like dishes among those who are sited around our table. The Kai Lan is crunchy and tasty even with just some carrot and mushrooms.

Stir-fried Minced Pork in Thai Style is rather bland towards my liking as I feel it could be better if more basil leaves are added to bring up it's unique aroma and perhaps less watery for the sauce so that the minced pork can adsorb the flavour of the seasonings.

{MUST TRY} This Steamed Fish With Spicy Thai Lime And Chilli is one of my favourite dish which is 2nd in line after the Thai Red Duck Curry.  The tangy and spicy sauce blend well with the freshness of the fish and it makes you can't stop with just one or two helping instead you would want to hide in one corner and finished up the whole fish by yourself.

For your information, during Monday to Thursday, Chef Jackson Goh will be preparing your favourite fishes in one of various styles which includes Spicy Thai Lime and Chilli, Thai Green Curry, Thai Red Curry or Basil in Coconut Cream.

{MUST TRY} When it comes to Thai Desserts, Steamed Glutinous Rice with either Durian or Mango is always my first choice that comes to my mind when ordering dessert. And I have being eying this Steamed Glutinous Rice with Durian the moment I spot it at the dessert counter.

If you are a Thai dessert and Durian lover, I would recommend you to try this. The glutinous rice is well-cook with the right texture which is not too soft and the durian pulps are from good quality of Durians.

God is good to let me enjoy my two favourite Thai dessert one after another. Above shows the Candied Tapioca With Coconut Milk where the tapioca is cooked thoroughly with sugar till soften and served with coconut milk. Although some parts of the tapioca are not very well-cooked but overall it still taste delicious with some coconut milk over it.

Seafood Galore at Plaza Brasserie

For this coming Mother's Day you can make your mum feel special by treating her a sumptuous seafood spread on either lunch/dinner at Plaza Brasserie (Park Royal, Beach Road) from 12 - 13 May 2012. And on top of the wide range of buffet spread, each mum also gets to enjoy a complimentary glass of cocktail or mocktail on the two mentioned dates.

SEAFOOD GALORE

Good News! For your information, Plaza Brasserie's popular Seafood Galore buffet is back from 01 May to 30 June 2012 in conjunction for the celebration of Mother's and Father's day. And to whet your appetite, Savour Executive Chef, Jackson Goh's signature dishes such as deep-fried prawns with garlic sauce, claypot braised fish head, alongside an array of fresh oysters, shellfish, chilli crab and baked whole salmon will be on the ordering menu on top of the usual buffet spread.

From Mondays to Thursdays:-
pair your selection of fresh fish with a preferred sauce and allow their chefs to whip up your dish.

Sweet and Sour fish is always one of the popular dishes among kids and adults due to its crispy deep-fried texture plus sweet and savoury sauce which makes it a great pair.

Cantonese Style Steamed Fish with Soy Sauce is definitely something on your ordering list for mum and dad to enjoy.

But out of the 3 "fish" dishes we had that day, I personally preferred the Braised Fish Head With Yam which consists of most of my favourite ingredients such as Yam, Chestnut, Button Mushrooms and etc. And I am sure both mum and dad or anyone in the family would loves this dish to bits.

As From Fridays to Sundays:-
You can indulge in the 'Crustacean Selections', ranging from bamboo clams to juicy crabs prepared in your favourite choice of sauce.

This Cereal Prawns is sure to be on the "Must" order list where you can find dish, you can find big and fresh succulent prawns hiding below a pool of crispy and fragrant fried cereal. Each prawn taste so juicy and crunchy especially with the combination of those delicious fried cereal.

Although I am not a fan of "shellfish" but this Stir-fried Bamboo Clam and Lala has indeed bought up my attention with its natural sea flavours, sweetness and some extra spices to lighten up this dish.

PREVIEW OF WHAT'S ON THE BUFFET SPREAD

Bread and Salad Counters:- I guess most of you would prefers to start off the buffet by having some refreshing salads, bread or cheese before the main course comes into picture.

Like all other buffet spread, this one at Plaza Brasserie also consists of both hot and cold stations where you get to enjoy their signature "Soft Shell Crab with Tobiko Mayo", "Braised Sea Cucumber". "Chicken Rice", "Fruit Rojak", "Fresh Seafood on Ice" and etc.

Dessert Counter:-  Provide a range of Western and Local dessert such as Mango Pudding, Mini Pancakes,  Chocolate Mousse(Must Try!), Fresh Cut Fruits and Daily Tong Shui like; Cheng Tng, Sesame Tang Yuan, Tau Suan and etc.

WHAT'S ON MY PLATE!

At the Chef's cooking station, you pick up your desire choice of freshly made Roti Prata from the wide varieties such as Chocolate, Durian, Egg, Onion, Plain and etc. But if you love Durian like me, you must try their Durian Prata which consists of "real" durian pulp in between those flashy skin.

Something Extra!

CARROT CAKE
(Not included in the buffet spread)

This is something extra apart from the buffet spread that we are having. Indeed Park Royal has a very unique Carrot Cake that is rich and moist in taste plus it is full of grated carrot and toasted nuts in between each layer of smooth and silky sweet cream cheese frosting.{Must Try!}
