Chong Pang Food Centre - Our Favourite Place For Satisfying Meal

In Singapore, after a long day at work, most of us (especially young couples) tend to eat out because by the time we get home it’s already too late (around 7pm) to prepare dinner and do the washing-ups. Furthermore, on days like closing of the month or working overtime, I am sure a satisfying meal with hearty dish and a comfort beverage will instantly lift up your mood and chase away the blues despite your busy schedules and tiring day.

For us, we are easily contented with our favourite local dishes like; Mixed Vegetable Rice (chap fan), Char Kway Teow, Chicken Rice, Satay, Fish Soup and etc where we enjoy them with an ice-cold Coke® - an easy and convenient beverage to perk up our hectic day. In addition the sweet and refreshing flavours of Coke also complemented well with these local cuisines making most of them a truly satisfying meal to look forward for. Example: we often like to pair Coke light® with char kway teow or laksa; Coke with chicken rice, BBQ chicken wing or stingray. What about you?

Chong Pang Market & Food Centre
In this article I would like to recommend some of our picks from Chong Pang Market & Food Centre; a food place which I patronize since my parents moved to this area in the late 80s.

CHONG PANG MARKET & FOOD CENTRE

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Ji De Lai Hainanese Chicken Rice

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Ji De Lai Hainanese Chicken Rice Set (SG$4.50)
We often order the set meal from Ji De Lai Hainanese Chicken Rice - 记得来海南鸡饭 (#01-152). It comes with a plate of blanched vegetables in oyster sauce, tender chicken meat drizzled with light soy sauce and sesame oil plus a plate of fragrant rice that is well-cooked and not too oily.

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Chuan Kee Boneless Braised Duck

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Chuan Kee Boneless Braised Duck Set (SG$4.00)
It's not easy to find duck rice stalls that are able to fulfil all aspects with tender braised duck meat, flavourful braised rice and serving soup. But somehow Chuan Kee Boneless Braised Duck Rice - 全记卤鸭饭 (#01-161) has nailed everything well because patrons are willing to wait as long as 20 minutes for their orders. This is definitely one of my pick-me-up dish to have it together with a glass of ice-cold Coke to end the long tiring day.

* Closed on every Monday and last Sunday of the month.

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Pig Organ Soup

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Pig Organ Soup (SG$5.00)
Pig Organ Soup - 猪什汤 (#01-125) opens daily from 11am till evening except Tuesday. The broth is flavourful with hint of sweetness from the soup bones and sour taste from the preserved vegetables making it very appetizing on each sip. The soup is packed full of goodness with the generous amount of lean meat, pork belly meat, meatballs, tofu and some innards.

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Wan Xing Nasi Lemak

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Wan Xing Nasi Lemak - Set A (SG$2.50)
Wan Xing Nasi Lemak - 万兴椰浆饭 (#01-133) is valued for its price with range of set meals to choose from or you can also pick up your desire dishes from their ala carte menu.

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Satay from Xu Zhong Xing

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Satay from Xu Zhong Xing - 旭忠兴 (#01-176)

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Satay from Seven Satay - 七沙爹 (#01-150)
Often, you will need to wait at least 30 minutes for your order with Xu Zhong Xing being the popular satay stall for two decades. Though the satay from Seven Satay is not as good but patrons like us love their peanut sauce some grated pineapple added into it.

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Satay Bee Hoon from Guan Heng Cooked Food (SG$3.00)
Guan Heng Cooked Food - 源兴熟食 (#01-146) has being selling Bak Chor Mee and Satay Bee Hoon for more than 15 years. Love their thick and flavoursome nutty gravy which goes well with the ingredients like bee hoon, lean meat, cockles, beansprout, cuttlefish and etc.

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Bak Chor Mee from Guan Heng Cooked Food (SG$3.00)

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Fried Hokkien Mee

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Fried Hokkien Mee (SG$4.00) from Tian Tian Cooked Food
Tian Tian Cooked Food - 天天熟食 (#01-153) has a rich flavour of prawn broth in their Fried Hokkien Mee where they fried with two types of noodles (thick vermicelli noodles and yellow noodles) together with ingredients like prawns, squid, egg and beansprouts, pork lard and etc. Upon serving they will add a spoonful of sambal chilli and a lime on the side as extra condiments.

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Pin Xiang

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Char Kway Teow (SG$3.00)
Pin Xiang - 品香 (#01-143) is a new stall offering local dishes like Fried Oyster, Fried Carrot Cakes, Char Kway Teow, Mee Goreng and etc. Our favourite is Char Kway Teow which includes generous amount of egg and beansprout plus the noodles are well fried with "wok hei" because the chef cooks one serving at a time to maintain the quality of the taste.

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Old Chong Pang Wu Xiang Xia Bing

[Chong Pang Market & Food Centre] Old Chong Pang Wu Xiang Xia Bing
Expensive fried food that is loved by many who are willing to wait as long as an hour just to feast on these from Old Chong Pang Wu Xiang Xia Bing - 老忠邦五香虾饼 (#01-166) which operates since 1986.

Chong Pang Market & Food Centre
You can easily spot the food centre (just beside the wet market) at Block 105 which is located in the heart of Chong Pang City with around 50 stalls selling different types of local cuisines, dessert and beverages. And not to forget, you can also find cheap and good durians (read more here) during durian season from June - August.
