Hearty Breakfast From Coffee Bean And Tea Leaf

Breakfast is my most favorite meal of the day. I love the smell of scrambled eggs and bacon whenever these two are served on our weekend breakfast. As you know staying in food paradise like Singapore we are all pamper with wide varieties of breakfast choices range from either the traditional Fried/Steamed Carrot Cake, Century Egg Porridge, Fried Fritters(you tiao) with Kopi or more westernize choice like Oat Porridge, Bacon and Sausage.

Sometime it might be good idea to pamper yourself with a cup of freshly brewed coffee/tea, served together with a set of hearty breakfast without you sweating in your own kitchen. Usually I would like to ordered Brek 'O' Day which served with scrambled eggs, toasts, sausage and salad.

I love their freshly made salad with crisp lettuce, generous amount of flake almond and cranberries served; with sourish and sweet tangy dressing that perk up my day.
Pricing: S$7.70(include a cup of freshly brewed coffee/tea that is FREE to refill daily till 11.00am)

Above shows the range of Breakfast Menu items from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf which I am sure you will find something your preference.

CBTL Innovative Single Serve Beverage System from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf

On Tuesday, 29 March 2011 - The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf has launched their New CBTL single serve beverage system in Singapore after their first launch market in U.S last December. I am honor to be invited as one of the media guests to witness and try out their innovative single serve system during the Media Launch event held at one of their Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf outlet at ION Orchard.

It's the first time a global coffee and tea chain company launching this single serve machine which makes coffee, espresso, tea and specialty drink. And this machine also blends modern technology and functions to create the perfect cup with just one touch that allows users to to enjoy their favourite Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf espresso, brewed coffee or tea from the convenience of their home or any locations.

Upon stepping into the outlet I was amazed by the classroom lab style setup where we are seated in pairs of two sharing one CBTL machine together with individual test kit and utensils. Each participant is given 2 types of Espresso (Italian and Premium Espresso), 1 House Brew and 1 Moroccan Mint Tea, 1 each of Chocolate and Vanilla Powder Sweetener together with different sizes of cup for making different drinks.

Here we get to test out different brewing methods using the given CBTL Capsules while the presenters explain and demo on the different functions of the CBTL machine. In the short demo we also learnt how to prepare "Cappuccino" using the Premium Espresso Capsule and the CBTL Milk Frother. Overall this is indeed a very good presentation where everyone gets to know more in depth about coffee and tea products as well as the art and knowledge of brewing a cup of premium coffee.

This CBTL Machine ( features easy capsule insertion, a large capsule drawer that holds up to 10 used capsules and with built in energy saving function too. The new KALDI edition comes with an ultra-sleek design which available in Metallic Red, Metallic Blue/Silver and Metallic White/Silver at S$389.00 each whereas the CONTATA model is available with Gray/Black at S$299.00 each. Look at the bright colour design and innovation functions, are you tempted to get a set for preparing your own premium coffee/tea too?

Furthermore with the add-on CBTL Milk Frother it produces just the right amount of heated or frothed milk for your favourite beverage such as Cafe Latte, Cappuccino, Macchiato, Cafe Mocha, Chai Latte like those sold at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf outlets. This cordless frothing pitcher is available in Black and White at S$149.00, but if purchased together with a CBTL Machine it is priced at S$99.00 each.

Here are some sample of the CBTL Capsules from the media kit. The in store CBTL Single-serve Capsules are available in a box of 10 at a retail price of S$9.10 with varieties include "Four Espressos, Four Brewed Coffees and Four Teas": Italian Espresso; Continental Espresso; Premium Espresso; Premium Decaf Espresso; Viennese Brew, French Brew; House Brew; House Decaf Brew' Chai Tea; English Breakfast Tea; Tropical Passion Tea and Moroccan Mint Tea.  I guess this price is quite reasonable to have a cup of freshly brew cafe standard coffee or tea for less than a dollar per cup (S$0.91 per capsule) which can be served at any time for our convenience at home or office.

For your information, each capsule is hermetically sealed to prolong freshness and preserve the delicate aroma of coffee and tea. In additional, the internal double filtration system also ensures evenly balanced extraction and optimal flavour. These capsules also have a roughly 2 years shelf life from date of manufactured. For more related information about this CBTL Machine, Beverage Capsules and it's accessories, do visit their Singapore website HERE. (

Lastly I would like to thanks Eugene Tan and Joey Wong from Catherine Ong Associates Pte Ltd and The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for the invitation.

Arteastiq Tea Lounge by MARXX

Talking about Mother's Day which falls on this coming Sunday, 09 May. What's on your mind to celebrate or pamper your mum for the time and thoughts that she has spent on you. No matter what is your budget like, I am sure she will appreciate the thought that count. So why not taking this opportunity to pamper mum with some refreshing English Floral-Tea and unique tea-snacks while some time off during your shopping trip.

Arteastiq is a very new tea lounge located inside a furniture boutique called Marxx at the Mandarin Gallery. The place was furnished with colourful designer chairs and sofa that brighten up the area. You can also enjoy good view of orchard road from the tall glass window.

There are a wide range of Tea Menu from English floral teas such as French Rose or Earl Grey to Chinese and Japanese and fruit teas like Pomelo, Lychee or etc. Beside these they also served alcoholic teas such as Cointreau Menta Lemongrass or Choya Pear Tea which is only available after 5pm.

Since both mum and I love floral tea, we ordered both our set from the English Floral Tea menu. The one that I had above is the Earl Grey with Lavender Tea which black tea that is blend with a light scent of Lavender that smooth my mood of the day. Each set of tea served with a complementary snack that varies from set to set which could be dried cranberries or sweet wafer biscuits or etc. Both our floral tea set are comes with almond wafers which mum enjoy so much and yet at a reasonable price of S$6.90 each set.

Mum prefer something light so she order her favourite French Rose Tea which is light and refreshing. The romantic rose scent really add extra fragrance to the atmosphere too. Each tea set is served on a gold-handled wooden tray, with unique design tea pots and cups. Like eg. Mum's rose tea set was served with a rose print tea cup and plate which add extra presentation point to the set.

Along with the tea sets we also ordered one of the recommendation Teasers item known as "Trinity" which offers a taste of three items in smaller servings. Our picks are: Knight Without Armour (crab salad served with volvant), Lust (chilled drunken sakura chicken with wolfberries) and Hot Naked Top (spicy jumbo top shell with chilled mango achar) which cost S$8.90 for any three items. Out of the 3 items mum loves the spicy top shell because it taste great with it's Q texture and the combination of sweet and sour mango achar.

Overall this is a great afternoon tea session for everyone of us. Even my little boy who don't drink tea enjoy the atmosphere and cosy environment of this little cafe that located at a corner of this unique furniture boutique. Em... perhaps next round I shall try some of their cold tea and wagyu beef which we missed out today. So if your mum loves afternoon tea, why not give this a try and let her experience another way of tea-time rather than the usual normal "coffee-break". Posted by Picasa

Toast Box - Afternoon Tea

Toast Box is one of the owns a chain out outlets under the Breadtalk group. It is established in December 2005 as a food stall unit in Food Republic, at Wisma Atria in Orchard area. Within a few years, Toast Box has expanded with more than 20 outlets in Singapore and expanded overseas outlets in Malaysia, Philippines, China, Thailand and Hong Kong.

No matter at what time of the day, you can start of with a fragrant cup of Nanyang Kopi, crispy-grilled thick toast and soft-boiled eggs. Or you can have your choice for Nasi Lemak, Mee Siam or Laksa. If you feel like having a relax tea-time on some light refreshment in the afternoon, you can choose from Traditional Kaya Toast, Banana Cake or some Colonial Tea Cakes that made from fresh buttercream, and topped with succulent fruits which will satisfy your taste buds.

Since we just wanted to have something light for Tea-Snack, we decided to get one of the Peanut Toast Set which serves together with a cup of freshly brew coffee, 2 large soft-boiled egg and a slice of 2.5cm thick toast which is crusty on the outside and heavenly soft inside. The toast is spread with a generous amount of peanut butter coating which goes well with the thick toast. This is really a good energy revival snack for a tiring afternoon of shopping day........

We also get a slice of this homemade Banana Cake because I am attracted by it soft and moist outlook. Banana Cake use to be one of my favourite tea-snack during my secondary days so having a slice of this with coffee really brings back a lot of my school days memories. But if you are looking for those moist or full of banana fragrance texture outcome then this cake might not suits your taste but it is more towards the light version.
