Thye Moh Chan Cake House @ Chinatown Point

I love Tau Sar Piah especially those Traditional Salty Tau Sar Piah which is infused with fragrance fried shallot aroma that binds together wtih blend mung bean paste. Since my in-laws are staying in the East side, my mother-in-law used to buy my favourite Tau Sar Piah from Thy Moh Chan Cake House which was previously located at Geylang Lorong 27 until it closed for retirement during September 2011.

But about a year after it closed for business, this well-known traditional tau sar piah was bought over by BreadTalk ground and it was relaunched again in December 2012 with it's main outlet at Chinatown Point and another retail at Parkway Parade's Food Republic.

Traditional Sweet Tau Sar Piah @ S$1.60 each OR a box of 8 @ S$10.80
While staying true to original recipes the relaunched Thye Moh Chan also brings in new flavours which is tastefully packaged in contemporary style too. And on our first visit to the new outlet, I decided to grab a box of 8 pieces (S$10.80) with mixture of traditional and new flavour to satisfy my craving on missing their Tau Sar Piah for a year.

Traditional Salty Tau Sar Piah @ S$1.60 each OR a box of 8 @ S$10.80

Melon Seed Red Bean @ S$1.60 each OR a box of 8 @ S$10.80

Cranberry Tau Sar Piah @ S$1.60 each OR a box of 8 @ S$10.80
On top of the all time classic flavour, they also add in new innovative fillings such as Cranberry, Spicy Pork Floss, Salted Egg Yolk, Assorted Nuts and etc. I have tried the Cranberry Tau Sar Piah but for me it don't think the taste blend  well (too sweet) with the traditional fillings but I would still like to try their Yuan Yang which is a pairing of savoury bean paste with spicy pork floss and salted egg.

For me to find and able to eat my favourite Tau Sar Piah again is definitely something good to share but on the other hand because of the take over and relaunched the price of the pastries also increase as compared to those sold in the old outlet.

Giveaway! FREE Sample QUAKER Oats Oatmeal Cookie

I always love to make a bowl of Quaker Oats and drizzle it with some honey or dried mixed fruits during weekends for a quick and hearty breakfast. But today instead of their Quick Cooking Oats or snack bars, I would like to share with you some of their new products shown below that I have spotted from the local supermarkets.

Honestly before getting these oatmeal cookies I was struggling in mind on whether is it worth to pay S$2.85 for 6 individual packets of 3 cookies each. What if they don’t taste good, fragrant or crunchy like those normal butter or chocolate chips cookies? But after reading the description from the packaging I was motivated to get some since it is made with wholegrain oats, no artificial flavour and most important 0% trans fat.

For your information I did not get all the three flavour at the beginning. Out of the three I settle for my favourite “Oatmeal Cookie with Raisin” which is surprisingly so additive in taste and texture that after I had a piece of it, I cannot stop munching for more. Although it might not have those buttery taste like most commercial or homemade cookies but I can assured you that this is one of those healthier snacks that you can pack some in your bag for snack in between meal if you feel hungry.

After my food experience with their “Raisin Oatmeal Cookie” I decided to try out the other two flavour which I can’t find them in most supermarket as they are out of stock. But today, I managed to find them in one of the Cold Storage and here is the “Oatmeal Cookie with Honey & Nuts”. I am sure this will be a hot selling snack for both kids and adult because of its sweet and nutty flavour.

Lastly we have this “Oatmeal Cookie with Apple and Cinnamon Flavour” but don’t worry you can’t really taste any strong cinnamon scent. Instead it will leave you with some mild and sweet apple fragrant while eating it.

Overall out of the 3 types of oatmeal cookie, I still prefer my favourite “Oatmeal Cookie with Raisin” because it leaves me with more chewing and biting while eating it. For this review, 2 lucky readers would get a chance to sample a set of this Assorted Flavour Quaker Oats Oatmeal Cookie complimentary from “Cuisine Paradise”. So do read up the instructions below in order to participate for the giveaway.

Hokkaido Snacks

I was at of the Japanese Retail Store in The Central Mall located directly above Clarke Quay MRT Station. The mall has a distinctive Japanese theme, with a wide variety of Japanese shops and restaurants. And If you are mad about Japanese snacks, food or anything related that you have being cave for months, you can go to The Central Mall at Eu Tong Sen Street.

I bought a few things in that shop and I happen to spot these 3 items that caught my eyes which are the Hokkaido Maple and Melon Pan and the Hokkaido Assorted Crackers. The Cracker is very nice and crispy and there are 6 individual packet in a bag. My mum love them so much that she even asked me to buy another packet for her. The Hokkaido pan was unusual compare to our normal bread. It stated that the bread is make from Natural Yeast.... Posted by Picasa
