Vanilla Mixed Fruit Log Cake From PrimaDeli

Christmas is another two weeks from now and a few days back I have received a Vanilla Mixed Fruit Log Cake complimentary from PrimaDéli. For a white Christmas this Vanilla Mixed Fruit Cake is a good alternative to the standard Chocolate variation. The harmonious combination of exotic fruit is generously spread between layers of fluffy vanilla sponge together with a smooth vanilla cream on the outer layer which keeps it light and yet enjoyable for your palate.

Besides the Vanilla Mixed Fruit Log Cake, PrimaDéli also offers another two range of Christmas Log Cakes for chocolate lover such as Blackforest Log Cake which featuring luscious layers of Chocolate sponge filled with juicy dark cherries, laced with fresh chocolate cream. Or you could the Truffle Log Cake which is a decadently rich chocolate sponge cake covered with velvety truffle cream. All the three log cakes comes in S$35.90 (Standard) or S$46.90 per kg.

The PrimaDéli’s Christmas 2012 Collection will be available at all PrimaDéli bakeries (outlets) from 17 November 2012 to 20 December 2012. Christmas Menu At Kiseki Japanese Buffet Restaurant

Christmas is about 2 weeks from now and if you have not decided on where to go for your Christmas lunch/dinner perhaps you could take a look at this wallet-friendly Christmas menu from Kiseki Japanese Buffet Restaurant.

For this Christmas season, Kiseki present a lovely white Christmas feast(lunch and dinner) starting from 21st - 25th December 2012 where diner could enjoy a hearty spread with less than S$50.00 per person.

During the festive lunch special, on top of the usual Japanese buffet favourite you could also enjoy Roasted Honey Gammon Ham with Yuzu Cranberry Sauce, Miso Glazed Roasted Char Siew as well as Japanese Style Buffalo Wings. I love the Yuzu Cranberry Sauce which is a bit sweet with a hint of refreshing yuzu taste which goes well with the roasted meat.

Example of the Christmas Roast that we have tried.
Whereas for the special White Christmas dinner spread add-ons, it includes the Roasted turkey, Roasted Striploin Beeef, Lamb Leg and Baked Salmon with Sake which I am sure everyone would be overwhelmed by these hearty spread.

For salad they have this Smoked Duck with Orange and Beef Root drizzle with Yuzu Balsamic which gives it a very refreshing citrus taste from the Yuzu. I am sure ladies or salad lover would love this as it really gives you a few bursting flavour in one bite.

This Christmas you could have another new pick for your favourite sushi because it had being transformed into these cute little Temarizushi (sushi ball) wrap. Each rice ball contains different type of filling and it is being wrapped using cute design food wrapper which makes them resemble candy. And I am sure this would be a "hot snatching" items among the kids too.

Other than Temarizushi Wrap, there are also many different assorted festive feel Sushi and Sashimi such as Egg Roll with Turkey Breast / Smoked Duck shown above.

Cucumber Gunkan Maki filled with diced Ham and Tomato

Colourful Chikuwa Maki served with radish and yuzu mixture dipping sauce.

Assorted Seasonal Sashimi Sushi that would whet your appetite as well as sight.

Cucumber Sushi Maki wrapped with poached Chicken Beast.

Japanese Curry Pizza with Seaweed Crust is one of my favourite because it consists 3 of my favourite choice in one dish. It has cheese, Japanese curry and sushi so this 3-in-1 combination dish definitely had caught my attention and to my surprised it does taste great just like their crispy crust pizza at Kiseki.

As you can see from the above photo, they are different layer of texture from seaweed, sushi rice, curry, cheese and etc. Love the combination and I recommend this to be the {must try} while they are out on the buffet line.

If you love skewers of food that are grilled over low charcoal heat, I am sure you won't want to miss any items from the Robatayaki Platter. Just grab a few skewers each and slowly enjoy them with your friends or family over at the dining table while chatting. For me the meat or mushroom skewers are always my favourite choice.

On top of the usual buffet items plus festive add-ons, if you still have room for dessert you could also try out their Christmas Festive Platter which consists some mini cakes like mixed fruit cake, black sesame cake, peach cake, ginger pudding, peanut butter pudding, blueberry mousse and etc.

Assorted Puddings and Mousse. I love their peanut butter pudding (3rd item from the front row)

Assorted cream cake, I prefer the Matcha flavour as compared to the peach and chocolate.

This year other than all hearty spread, Kiseki also geared with new attraction of a Two-Piece Band which will be taking in song dedications and performing carols for diners too. So if you are still looking for Christmas feast this season, do take a look on Kiseki Christmas Menu.

MooJaa, Mookata Thai BBQ Steamboat

MooJaa is a popular slang word meaning "My lovely pig" which is commonly used by couples who have put on a little of that "happy weight" during their relationship. Here at MooJaa, Kookata Thai BBQ Steamboat, you could enjoy having both barbecue and hot pot at the same time like what shown above. The pot comes with a dome shaped grill which allows smoke from the charcoal to waft up to the grill and perfume the meat with "wok hei" fragrant which makes you crave for more.

The selling point of MooJaa is definitely their flavoursome "soup broth", sweet and spicy homemade dipping sauces as well as fresh ingredients like meat and seafood.

While flipping thru their menu, we notice that they have some Thai-style Ala Carte dishes like Basil Pork, Green Curry Chicken, Fried Garlic Pork/Chicken and etc for their lunch menu with pricing range from S$5.50 - S$8.00 inclusive of white rice and soup.

Although there are quiet a few choices on the drinks menu but when comes to Thai restaurant I would either go for their Thai Ice Tea (S$2.50) or Lemongrass Drink. And I am glad I made the correct choice for having Thai Ice Tea from Moojaa which taste really good with a light refreshing after taste that is not too sweet or bitter.

They are two popular dipping sauces such as Spicy BBQ (red colour) and Sweet Sour Seafood (orange colour) which the Thai chef made from scratch using 31 different ingredients.  And to make these sauces it involved about six straight hours of non-stop stirring in order to prevent it from char or bun, no wonder it taste so good and like by most customers. Personally I love the Sweet Sour Seafood Sauce which taste more refreshing with hint of citrus flavour in it.

At MooJaa, the owners also specially used quality Binchotan Japanese Charcoal (備長炭) which does not release smoke, ashes or other unpleasant odours like those traditional charcoal steamboat we used to have. And the moment when we saw they bring in the charcoal we were all very excited to try the food which would be cooked using the traditional way rather than gas stove.

While the staff was preparing the steamboat for us, something interesting caught our attention. He actually used a cube of "Pork Lard" (in place of the butter which normally used for BBQ) to grease the grilling pot before placing the meat on it.  From what he told us, this extra goodness would add great fragrance and crisp to the meats barbecued on the dome.

For your information the soup broth for the hot pot section is brewed for at least five hours using chicken and pork bone which makes it so tasty even before adding in any of the hot pot ingredients. And by the time, we added in the meats, vegetables and seafood, the soup turns incredibly flavourful with the mixture of the hot pot ingredients and meaty juices from the grill.

MooJaa has two types of Mookata set which are Set Moo and Set Gai both pricing at S$39.90. Basically they have the same items just that Set Moo consists of Pork Collar Set whereas Set Gai is of Boneless Chicken. Both the Mookata sets includes Prawn, Fish/Pork Ball, Squid, Hotdog, Golden Mushroom, Vermicelli, Kang Kong and Cabbage.

Furthermore they also have other Ala Carte items to add on to the Mookata such as Cheese Ball (S$8.00), Deep-fried Salmon Fish Skin (S$6.00), US Angus Beef (S$22.00) and etc which you could take a look at their Menu.

Their homemade Chicken Cheese Balls (S$8.00) is one of their popular side orders which is tender when bite and the cheese filling is not too overpowering in taste too. But just be careful when you eat this as the cheese might burst and split when you bite it.

One of their private dining room which could caters around 8 - 10 persons.

Good Morning Everyone! Hope you have a great Monday. If you have not taken your breakfast and still wonder what to prepare for today perhaps you would like to try making this "Pancakemisu" which would be ready in less than 15 minutes time!

As we are in the month of December and Christmas is just around the corner I am sure you are into festive mood just like what we do too. Phuket has long been luring tourists to it's drop dead gorgeous beaches and dramatic bay scenery. It is also Thailand's most famous island destination for vacation from around the world. Apart from all the new developments, Phuket's natural wonders are still the main attractions where beaches, rainforest trek or boat ride to Phi Phi Island and etc are the must try or do for tourists.

And after a day in the sun, you could also pamper yourself with traditional Thai massage to experience this ancient art of healing.

Voyager Of The Seas - Royal Caribbean International [Shore Excursions At Malaysia]

First of all, this is a very over due post which I have no time to finish after my last two posts(here) on our 6 days Voyager Of The Seas Cruise Trip during June school holiday. Along the journey there were 3 ports of call whereby we stopover at Port Klang, Penang (Malaysia) And Phuket(Thailand). Since on board I am very excited to visit Penang as I have heard and read a lot of good reviews on their food especially Penang Laska, Cha Kway Teow and Bak Kut Teh.

Black Sesame Paste With Almonds Using Cuisinart Hot And Cold Blender

Black Sesame Paste is one of the common dessert found in dessert chain outlets such as Ah Chew Desserts, Dessert Hut, Er Gu Dessert (二姑糖水) and etc. And some believe that by consuming black sesame paste it also helps to nourish the blood, lubricate the intestines and clear "wind" in the stomach too.

On the down side, for those suffer from spleen troubles, diarrhoea or loose stools should avoid over-consumption of these small seeds.

BLACK SESAME PASTE WITH ALMONDS

After the previous recipes on Broccoli And Spinach Soup, Pumpkin And Meat Porridge; this post I would be sharing another quick Asian dessert which I am sure most of you would love it. The consistency of this Black Sesame Paste could be adjust with additional 100 - 150ml more of water during cooking if you prefer a more dilute and watery paste.

(Serves: 4 | Preparation: 10 minutes | Cooking: 20 minutes)

Ingredients:
150g Black Sesame Seeds
50g Uncooked Rice
4 Cups (1000ml) Water
150g Caster Sugar/Rock Sugar
1 Stalk Pandan Leave, knotted
50g Roasted Almonds, roughly chopped

Method:-
1. Pre-soaked the rice for at least 30 minutes, drain well and set aside.

2. Rinse the black sesame seeds, drain well and pan-fry till completely dry and fragrant.

3. Place sesame seeds and rice into Cuisinart Hot And Cold Blender glass jug together with water. Set the timer to 20 minutes, blend the mixture for 30 seconds using SPEED 1.

4. Next add in pandan leave and sugar, bring the mixture to boil on HIGH for 5 minutes before switching it to SIMMER and continue to cook until end of the cycle.

5. When everything is cooked, remove the "pandan leave" and PULSE the mixture twice or more to achieve your desire texture.

6. Ladle Black Sesame Paste between serving bowls, garnish with roasted almonds and serve immediately.

To serve you could top it with some roasted almond to enhance the taste or even with a scoop of Vanilla Ice-cream if you are open to some adventure new combination. Till then I would update more recipes such as "Watermelon Granita", "Porridge", "Bolognese Sauce" using Cuisinart Hot And Cold Blender soon.

Rainbow Pancake Vs Geen Pig Pancake

I guess most of us love eye appealing food despite whether you are an Adult or kid. As a mum of one, I hardly used food gel/colouring in our food but in order to achieve the eye catching colours for this Rainbow Pancake I have to use tiny bits of it for the effect. And to obtain the vibrant colours, you could mix your food colouring with some water before adding to your favourite pancake mix, in this way it could prevent over mixed of the pancake mixture and leaving you with nice and fluffy pancakes.
