[recipes + videos] 5 Assorted Chiffon Cakes - Part IV

This is Part IV  (Part I, Part II and Part III ) of my chiffon cakes post and in each post there are five different flavour of chiffon cakes. On a count I think I have made more than 25 flavour and out of those Pandan Chiffon Cake is the only one which I often made at least once or twice in a month.

Since my family prefer cakes that are without cream or frosting my bakes often rotates between chiffon or pond cake. But once in a while upon request I would also bake muffin, chocolate brownie or cheesecake. There are two fruity chiffon cakes recipes in this post plus one of my favourite using gula melaka which I hope you can try on it.

5 Assorted Chiffon Cakes Recipes - Part II

Good morning everyone! For those who follow my updates on Instagram and Facebook Page, you will release that I have being working on some chiffon cake recipes lately. It is such a quick and easy cake to whip up in about 10 minutes plus 40 minutes baking time in the oven (excluding cooling time) and you get to enjoy some lovely hearty homemade chiffon anytime of the day.

I had received some emails from readers regarding problems that they face while making chiffon cakes mostly because the cake sinks or did not rise as fluffy as expected. All these might due to  folding of egg whites into the yolk batter (over mixed), oven temperature or etc. But I am sure with proper guideline and hands-on once will eventually master the recipes. In this post, I will be sharing another 5 chiffon cake recipes apart from what I did in Chiffon Cake Recipes - Part I.

Taiyaki (たい焼き)

Taiyaki (たい焼き) is a Japanese fish shaped pancake which is commonly filled with red bean paste that is made from sweetened azuki beans. But in these day, there are many other fillings such as custard, chocolate, cream cheese or even sausage in it.

As usual the creative and wonder members in Munch Ministry facebook group always bring up interesting kitchen gadgets to share with the rest of the members and just recently, there is a rave in making these cute Taiyaki in the group due to some promotion on the Taiyaki Pan shown above.

These yummy little treat is actually very easy to make at home if you have a Taiyaki Pan. What you required is to get hold a pack of Pancake Premix plus some Instant Fillings such as Cream Cheese, Nutella, Peanut Butter, Kaya and etc.

(Make: 6 |            Preparation: 3 minutes |             Cooking: 20 minutes)

Ingredients:
150g (1 sachet) Morinaga Pancake Premix
1 Large Egg, 60g
100ml Fresh Milk
1/2 Tablespoon Cornflour
Some Nutella, Peanut Butter, Cream Cheese or etc
1 Taiyaki Pan

Method:-
1. Whisk egg and milk together in a mixing bowl or jug till combined. Add in 1 sachet of Morinaga pancake premix and stir till the mixture resemble cake batter.

2. Lightly brush oil on both inner sides of the Taiyaki pan. Preheat it 30 seconds before ladle a small amount of batter(refer to the step-by-step photo above) to the preheated pan (on one deeper print side).

3. Add your desire fillings such as 1 tablespoon of nutella/peanut. Next pour a little more batter just enough to cover the paste. Close the pan and cook for 1 minute 20 seconds on medium low heat.

4. Flip the pan over, cook for another 1 minute or more, open the pan slight and check the colour of the fish. Careful not to overcook and burn it as they should be golden brown on each side.

NOTE:-
~ To get a nice evenly golden brown colour for your Taiyaki, the "secret" lies on the heat and timing for cooking the Taiyaki.

(photo credited to Celes from Celestial Delish)

Hi everyone, hope you have a wonder Good Friday! Today's post is slightly different as it consists of Photos, Guest Post(from Celestial Delish), and team recipe. Since Easter is this coming Sunday, Celes from Celestial Delish ask whether I am keen to do a Easter Cupcake Project together with her. And my answer is definitely "YES" when she brief me on the plan. So without hesitate, we start sourcing the necessary ingredients and as well as testing some of the egg dying process before the actual baking.

And guess what! After almost about 6 hours in the kitchen starting off with draining the eggs from the shells, washing and drying the shells, preparing colours to dye the eggs, getting the egg batter and filling ready. Finally you can see what we have achieve at the end of the day from the photos shown in this post.
