Looking Back to 2014

Time flies and in another hour or two more we will be stepping into 2015 which is a brand new year ahead. Although I don't blogged as regularly when compared to others peers due to my personal commitments but I do hope to maintain this website and keep up my blogging passion in coming new year.

Here I would love to thank everyone for your supports in walking though the years with us. Thanks for reading our posts as well as trying /sharing the recipes. Below are some recaps for 2014 which I would love to share it with you again.



JANUARY 2014


Dayre a new mobile blogging App
Started a new blogging platform using Dayre (@cuisineparadise) which is a cool mobile blogging app that allows instant update of photos, video and notes. This is one of my frequent platform whereby I shared some of my daily homecook recipes, eat out venues or sightseeing activities.


FEBRUARY 2014


2014 Chinese New Year Gatherings
Chinese New Year is always the most exciting dates especially for young kids because other than the big feasts they also looking forward to receive red packets during house visits. Whereas for the older generation, we simply loved the atmosphere and gatherings with friends and family members to catch up some updates and quality bonding time.

MARCH 2014


In March, I started a "Weekly Meal Planner" column featuring some quick and easy weekday meals from soup (double-boiled, slow-cooked), western food (casserole, pies, pasta) to Asian dishes such as hotplate tofu, chicken rice, stir-fry veggie, braised fish and etc.

APRIL 2014


Overnight Oat; a healthy breakfast choice!
Overnight Oat  is a popular and convenience quick meal which you could easily prepared at home using a few simple ingredients and tweaks it accordingly to create different flavours. This healthy treat is actually made with rolled oats (also known as old fashioned oats) that “soaked up” any sort of liquid such as yogurt, milk/non-dairy milk or juice which therefore eliminating the need of cooking.

If you are keen, let's gather all the ingredients below:
- Rolled Oats (not instant, quick, or steel-cut oats)
- Chia Seeds (to thicken the mixture plus loaded it with essential nutrition)
- Greek or Plain Yogurt (for natural flavour)
- Fresh Milk, Almond Milk, Soy Milk or Apple Juice
- Glass or Plastic Container (at least 1 cup size)

JULY 2014


[Philips Airfryer] Air-fried Avocado Fries
One of my favourite kitchen gadget for 2014 is the New Philips Avance XL Airfryer. We are thankful to receive a review set from Philips Singapore to test out the performance and availability of this new appliance. With that we decided to work on a few recipes such as baking a pound cake, air-fried sweet potato and avocado fries plus whipping a cafe style breakfast with croissant and cheesy baked egg in less than 15 minutes.

AUGUST 2014


Homemade Baked Mooncake and Snowskin Mooncake
This year due to a mooncake assignment I made some variety of Homemade Mooncakes such as the traditional baked mooncake which wrapped with lotus paste, melon seeds and salted egg; snowskin mooncake plus refreshing Jelly Mooncakes using agar agar powder with flavour like rose tea and lychee. Besides that while preparing these mooncake it also enable learning and bonding time with my kid as part of the culture food making process.

SEPTEMBER 2014


Homemade Granola
Granola is a popular breakfast choice or snack food which made from rolled oats, nuts and honey which usually baked until crisp then add-on with dried fruits mixture. You can either have it on its own or combine with yogurt, honey and fresh fruits such as strawberries and bananas. Beside that soaking them in cold milk or use as topping for desserts like ice-cream or parfait are great ideas too.

OCTOBER 2014


[Cafe in Yishun] Holy Cow Creamery
Finally after all the hyper opening of new cafes in town or popular heartland areas, the wait is over for those living in Sembawang and Yishun. With a new cafe and 3 creameries (read more here) opening one after another since late September 2014 we can also chill up with friends or just enjoy a cup of coffee near our neighborhood.

Top 10 Express Eat in Singapore
I am sure most of you have eaten quick meal (as in choice of food) especially during weekday evening(s) when you need to work overtime till late hours or before catching up a movie date? But I am just curious what are the choices that would appeared in your list; could it sandwiches, fast food, local snacks, instant noodles or perhaps movie snacks like popcorn, hotdog bun or nacho chips? No matter what is your options I think anything that is fuss-free and easy to munch on would be a great choice.

DECEMBER 2014


Winter Vacation to California, USA
This year we took up the courage and brave through a 14 days winter trip to California, USA. Although the flight to USA was a killer / nightmare for most of us due to the almost 18hrs journey (include an hour plus transits) but thank God we made it safely to and back home. Will share more about our trip in upcoming posts soon.
