[The Entertainer app] One-For-One Deal Main Course @ The Disgruntled Chef

Located at 26B Dempsey Road, The Disgruntled Chef is a bar and restaurant which offers European dishes in a cosy environment that is away from the heart of the city. And while browsing through my Entertainer “1-for-1 main course” deals we decided to try their main courses where I called up to make reservation for their weekend brunch.

Before sharing our views at Disgruntled Chef, here is a quick run through of what I had mentioned in my previous post at Bedrock Bar And Grill on “How to use the Entertainer App”. This app is FREE to download from your mobile phone (available on iPhone, Android and Blackberry) and there is no charges to utilise their monthly deals too. But if you wants to enjoy the full version of the Entertainer App with more than 990buy one get one free” offers on food, travel and etc, you can purchase the Full App @ SG$57 (usual price SG$95) for a limited time of 40% offer price.

[The Disgruntled Chef] Al Fresco Dining Area
[The Disgruntled Chef] In-Door Dining Area
It was a drizzling weekend when arrived Disgruntled Chef and we were in love with their relaxing ambiances where the restaurant is filled with hues of warm grey and graphite-coloured chair. Beside there also have al fresco dining area where you can sits alongside and admire the lush greenery of Dempsey Hill too.

Their menu offers quite a few creative combinations of dishes such as Crackling Sucking Pig with Honey and Cloves Sauce as well as "small / big plates" and "brunch smalls / bigs" menu that suits individual dining preference.

[The Disgruntled Chef] Bora-Bora Vs Green Goodness
For a healthy start on our weekend brunch we decided to order their Brunch Juices instead of coffee/tea. It has six different combination of fresh fruits and veggies juice for selection where we settled for Boro-Bora (SG$10++) which is a mixture of pineapple, passion fruit, pomegranate and lemon.  Green Goodness (SG$10++) which comes in a dark green colour contained ingredients such as green apple, baby spinach, cucumber and honey. To my surprise, it actually taste good and refreshing with a stronger apple flavour rather than raw spinach taste.

[The Disgruntled Chef] Roasted Mushrooms With Garlic Butter
Since Nibbles were not available during our visit (actually we intended to try their crispy fish skin and crayfish takoyaki), the serving staff recommended us some of their Sides which I decided on Roasted Mushrooms with Garlic Butter (SG$8++).   And for mushroom lovers like us, this was really good as the "juicy" button mushrooms were all infused with addicting garlic butter sauce making you popping one after another.

[The Disgruntled Chef] 1-For-1 Main Course deal using Entertainer App
For the main courses, according to the serving staff(s) the "1-For-1 Main Course" is only available for their "BRUNCH BIGS" menu items such as Miso Cod, Pork Cheeks, Duck Cassoulet, Salmon and etc.

[The Disgruntled Chef] Roasted Miso Cod
Since my boy loves cod fish, I order their Roasted Miso Cod (S$38++) which is served with sauteed mushrooms and baby spinach. The cod fillet is indeed very fresh with melt in your mouth texture; and overall the miso dressing balances well with the ingredients without overpowering the taste of this dish.

[The Disgruntled Chef] Duck Cassoulet
[The Disgruntled Chef] Duck Cassoulet
For the second main course we decided on Duck Cassoulet (SG$34++) that comes with with Lyonnaise sausage, coco beans and tomatoes because the waiting time for Roasted Stuffed Chicken takes at least 40 minutes. Although the presentation of the dish might looks a bit messy/cramp with those garnishing but the duck leg was quite flavorsome with tender meat that easily falls from its bone.

[The Disgruntled Chef] Desserts
Lastly to end the meal we had their signature Sticky Toffee Pudding (SG$14++) which served with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. The pudding itself was perfectly done with fluffy texture plus it was generously drizzled with awesome toffee sauce (not too sweet) that makes it a divine after meal dessert.

Lemon Tart (SG$14++) on the other hand which served with creme fraiche and blueberry compote was not as good as what I expected perhaps I was overwhelmed by their sticky toffee pudding. We felt that the crust was a bit tough and not buttery enough plus the lemon filling was just average.

To complete the redemption when making payment, both you (as diner) and the retailer (restaurant staff) have to enter the "4-digits" customer pin to get a successful redemption shown above.

So once again with Entertainer App “1-For-1 Main Course” deals; we managed to redeemed another good offer and we shall look forward to their December deals for the coming festive feast soon.

Overall from what we observed during our visit, Disgruntled Chef provide a good dining ambiances for couples, gathering venue or even family with young kids to enjoy some decent fusion dishes anytime of the week. Indeed we have a pleasant dining experience and we do look forward to return soon to try their crispy lamb shortribs, baked bone marrow, nibbles as well as their signature sticky toffee pudding.
