[Day 3] Disneyland Train Plus In-Town Check-in via Hong Kong Airport Express

After our breakfast at Chef Mickey, we do an express check-out together with our belongings and took the park shuttle bus to Disneyland Resort Station which is located near the entrance of Hong Kong Disneyland. From here we took the Disney themed train to Sunny Bay station to do a transfer to Hong Kong City for our Airport Express Check-in.

Hong Kong MTR Journey Planner
On the night before I used their MTR Journey Planner (shown above) to calculate the traveling time and fares for us to get to the city so that we roughly know what to expect at the stations. And since we have the adult Octopus Cards (similar to our Singapore Easy-link card) we just need to get an extra child ticket for Rey.  So actually traveling to and from Disneyland - City was not that difficult after-all with its fast and easy MTR lines.

On Sundays and public holidays, the frequency for the Disneyland train is about 5 minutes when Hong Kong Disneyland Resort opens in the morning and after the evening fireworks but on non-peak hours it will be on 10 minutes interval of waiting time to and from Sunny Bay Station.

Disneyland Themed Train
The interior of the train is decorated with mickey themed such as mickey head shaped handlers and windows. Furthermore the cabins are also very spacious (benefit for those coming with bags and luggage) and clean with comfortable cushion seats too.

Time for the first train and last train of Disney Resort Line:
Sunny Bay: 06:15 – 00:45
Disneyland: 06:20 - 00:40

Sunny Bay Station Interchange
After about 7 - 8 minutes train ride, we reached Sunny Bay Station where we need to cross over to the other side of the platform (follow the direction and take the lift up to exit 2 (Hong Kong) shown above)  to transfer to another train to Hong Kong Station.

The traveling time from Sunny Bay Station to Hong Kong Station took about 25 minutes with 6 stops in between. We alighted at Hong Kong Station (instead of Kowloon Station) which is one of the Airport Express Stations (click on the link to check the other available in-town check-in stations) for our In-Town Check-in because it will be nearer for us to get to The Peak via the shutter bus service at Central Pier.

Airport Express Train Tickets
The Airport Express Check-in Counters and Customer Service at Hong Kong Station are located at ground level. Passengers taking the Airport Express can enjoy FREE In-town Check-in service in Hong Kong and Kowloon Stations in between 90 minutes and one full day ahead of the scheduled flight departure time (you can check the exact check-in time for individual airlines here).

Airport Express Train @ Hong Kong Station
But in order to benefit from this service passengers have to purchased the Airport Express Ticket for the airport express train at either Hong Kong or Kowloon Station. The journey from these stations to airport takes about 25 minutes and we were advised by the check-in staff to board the train at least 1.5 - 2 hours to the airport before boarding time.
